Screenshot problem?

Okay, I want to make icons from taking screenshots from my video files. The problem is that everything I print screen and paste the copied image, it appears blank.

Basically like that. I don't know what the problem is. Can someone tell me if I need new media programs? Or is there any way to fix this?

Also, out of nowhere my some of my .avi files stopped working partially, meaning I can only hear the audio but the video image isn't there. How can I fix this?
