Coloring Tutorial #1: Jensen Ackles

From this:     to this:

- Using GIMP (definitely transferable)
- Level: Beginner (as long as you how to name the layers your fine!)
- 8 steps + 1 optional

Other examples with same tut:

Step 1:  Get the picture you want and resize and/or crop it  (100x100) to how ever you want it.
Step 2:
Duplicate the base, set it to Screen, duplicate that and set it to Overlay.
Step 3:
Create new layer, fill it in with #0c2f64, duplicate it, set one to Subtract and the other to Screen at 100% (other programs just do one layer and set that to Exclusion)
Step 4:
New layer, fill it with #acd9ff, set it to Soft Light at 30%
Step 5:
New layer, fill it with #6cff00, set it to Color at 20%
Step 6:
New layer, fill it with #3bf5f7, duplicate it, again set one to Subtract and the other to Screen at 30% (other programs just do one layer and set that to Exclusion)
Step 7:
Duplicate your base, bring it to the top and set it to Soft Light. OPTIONAL: You can also Desaturate (Layer>Colors>Desaturate) the layer, try it out which way works better for your icon. (I did by the way)
Step 8:
Now copy paste this texture:

Make it a new layer (Later>New Layer...) and set it to Screen.
Step 9 (OPTIONAL):
Sharpen it (Filters>Enhance>Sharpen) if the image looks not that clear, it's always best to shrapen between 20-30.  Add text or brushes to your liking, I added two Diagonal stars using the default GIMP brush in black and just minimized the layer % to how I liked it....

and there you go!

Final Tip!: At this point you can merge all the layer if you want, just if you do start at the bottom and not the top and mess around with the layer settings to get the right coloring.

Hope you enjoyed it! comments are welcomed of course!
