Blending with PSP XI

Hello, I have looked in the memories here and on the web generally for blending tutorials, and even though they seem pretty simple I somehow can't get it to work.

I've been trying to blend this:





The images are overlapped, and when I try to feather that line between them it doesn't blend.. I'm using PSP XI. Thanks for any help. :)
