'Medium' Tut

Howdy! First tut, so be gentle...

Photoshop CS

Step 1.

Prepare your base as you need to…mine was darkish so after sharpening and smoothing out the skin I duplicated and set to screen. Resize your base (or don’t depending on the size of the canvas you prefer to work with). Pretty standard stuff J

Step 2.

Create a new layer and fill with #B8E4FA; set to colour burn

Step 3.

‘Nother layer, fill with # EFDAB7 and set to soft light

Step 4.

Duplicate that last layer and set it to multiply

Step 5.

New adjustment layer – hue/saturation. Set saturation to +23

Step 4.

New adjustment layer – curves! I know they’re annoying, but they make things so darn pretty…

Sometimes it looks alright at this point, but if it’s not quite the way you want it then move onto…

Optional Step 5!

Duplicate the base and drag it to the top, set it to soft light. For some of my icons I desaturated this layer, but some of ‘em looked better without it; whatever works with your base!

All done! Lemme see if you come up with anything good ;)
