Hi! So, this is my first ever tutorial, and I hope you find it helpful

Okay. We'll be going from this: to this:

I use Photoshop CS2. The selective coloring isn't translatable, but you can skip that step and still get a pretty decent icon, I think.

Take your base, sharpen it, and prepare it. *nods*

Next we have a selective color layer. I don't know if you can translate this into other programs or not, but you can do without this layer. I just like it.

REDS:
C: 5
M: 19
Y: -30

YELLOWS:
C: 21
M: -38
Y: 45
B: -18

Magentas:
C: -6

NEUTRALS:
C: 24
M: 1
Y: 35
B: 25

You're result:

Next, duplicate your base and set it to soft light.

We get this:

Next create a new layer and fill it with #f192dc (bright pink) and set it to soft light.

We get this:

Another new layer, and this time fill it with #2d2d73 (purplish navy) and set that to Exclusion.

We are now on this:

Next, duplicate your base twice, bring both duplicates to the top, and set them both to soft light.

We get this:

Now take this scratchy texture (maker unknown) and set it to exclusion. Erase the part on his face.

We are now on this:

Bring in textures, text, etc. I used this one set on screen (made by la_bellevie and this one. (I don't know who made it.)

And you are done!
