What-What?!
Well I think it was about time I did a tutorial of myself!!
It's not the best, it's my first. So please don't be hatten >D
xD Hehe..enjoy!!
o1. Cut, and crop your image to icon size or whatever, and start out with your base:
o2. Next were going to make a new level layer
Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Levels..
Output levels: 21, 242
o3. Then were going to make a new Selective Colour layer
Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Selective Colour..
Reds: -5, -17, -57, +4
Yellows: -5, -7, -10, -35
Whites: +100, -25, -15, -100
Neutrals: +4, -2, -5, -15
Blacks: 0. +2, +2, +29
o4. Now it's time to mess around with a new curves layer
Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Curves..
RGB:
Input: 84
Output: 99
o5. Duplicate your curved layer, and set it to screen at 56% Opacity.
o6. Almost done!! Now to add another Curve layer
RGB:
Input: 105
Output: 76
o7. Now add a Brightness/Contrast layer
Layer >> New Adjustment Layer >> Brightness/Contrast
Brightness: -9
Contrast: +19
&&There you have it! Your icon is fresh, and baked out of the oven :3
If you want to add any other addition things, brushes, text, and textures are also a great thing to add!

I used a solid colour, and added it to screen, as well as using two other textures as well as adding a bit of text!:
