PSPX tutorial
My first tut ever! Going from this
to this
to this
Note: If any of the textures or other graphics in this tutorial are yours, notify me immediatly, so i can give credit. Sorry for not doing so now
This tutorial was made in PSPX, so results may vary between. Use of curves. I do not know if it is translatable, so if you try it out, tell me if it is or not
Take your picture and crop it, resize it, duplicate, all that hoo-haa
1. Effects > photo effects > sepia toning > age = 50 (play around with the age) set to soft light 100%
2. New layer, fill it with #05043f (dark navy blue) and set to exclusion 100%
3. New layer, fill it with #febcdb (pale rose pink) and set to burn 100%
4. Use this gradient
and set it to screen 78%
5. This is when i lost my mind... Layers > New adjustment layer > curves
Red: in.21 Out.56
Green: in.66 out.12
blue: in.11 out.88 (I advise you to change these settings to your likings)
6. Now take this texture
and set it to hard light 50%, and erase the parts of it covering the main object in your picture
7. Now add this texture
and set it to screen 100% and erase the parts over the main object
8. Take this texture
and set it to screen 100%, once again erasing the parts over the main object
9. Duplicate the base, drag it to the top, and set it to soft light 100%
10. Take this light texture
and set it to lighten 100% (Note: Depending on the colors of your picture, you will probably want to change the colors of this texture. To do so, before putting it on your picture, open it as a new image and and go to Adjust > Hue and saturation > hue/saturation/lightness > and then adjust the Hue right or left to get the color you think will match your icon)
You are done! Add any brushes, text, or other textures if the current ones don't match. If you are going to use this tutorial EXACTLY as i have written it for more than 2 icons, i would like credit. It's only fair, i worked a long time on this. I would like to see how these come out guys!
