I made a tutorial to make red hair really stand out.
Go from this: to this:
Made in PS CS2, uses selective coloring. First take your base and crop it. Sharpen if needed. Use blur tool to soften skin.
Next duplicate your base and set to screen at 100% (use this if your image is a little dark like this one. If lighter use softlight at about 50% .
Then filter > blur > gausian blur at 2.0
Add a new adjustment layer: Hue/Saturation. Set Saturation at +33
Now comes the selective coloring layer Enter these values: R -100 0 100 0 Y 0 100 100 -30 G -100 -100 -100 -100 N 0 0 +16 +15
I rotated a texture 180 degrees to get this : original is #14 here and copied it into a new layer and set to screen 75% I then lightly erased the texture from the face and hair for a brighter image. And that's it. Your should come up with this.
All images will be different so play around a bit. You may not need the saturation layer or you may have to use overlay or softlight layers.
