Icon Sized Font Brush Tutorial

I’m using Photoshop CS, so I don’t know what versions this tutorial will or wont work with, sorry.

First open a new image (Ctrl-N on your keyboard) 100x100 px and make it transparent.

You should now have this:

Select the text tool, a font and a font size . It doesn’t matter which one you use, go by your own tastes, I’m going to use Lainie Day at 18 points. Make the font color black because you can always change the color when you use the brush.

Now start typing the transparent icon you made. There are to ways I like to make these. One, you can just type random letters, or two, you can type actual words like from your favorite song.

NOTE: you should not have 2 windows open, I did that to show you the 2 examples, got it? Good…also I change the font size to 24points on the second one with the lyrics =)

At this point you are practically done. Just go to EDIT>DEFINE BRUSH PRESET

Name the brush what you want and click ok

Click on the brush icon on your tool bar, click on the little button labeled brush in the top left corner (badly circled in orange), select your brush and test away!

And use in anyway you want! See, very easy.

Hope you liked it! Ill do another one on how to use it on an icon later =) tell me if I need to fix anything!
