Tutorial #3: Removing Deep Pink from Caps

Used Photoshop CS2, hopefully translateable. :]
1. Open Cap into your program of choice. Crop to 100x100 (I always crop mine to 300 dpi if it is a large cap).
2. Duplicate Background layer and set to screen.
___ ((3. Sharpen Background Layer copy. Filter > Sharpen > Smart Sharpen:
Amount: 72% Radius: 1.9 Remove: Glaussian Blur
Edit > Fade Smart Sharpen > 67% (play around with it) )) << -- step three optional.
4. Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Balance
Midtones: -38, +17, -45
5. Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Color
Red: +56, -20, +100, +33
Yellow: +74, +47, +51, +34
Cyan: +100, +100, -100, +31
Blue: +100, +100, -100, +17
Neutrals: -10, 0, +9, +5
___((6. Duplicate the background Layer again and drag to the top.
Set to Color Dodge 50% )) <-- also optional
Without Step 6:
7. Duplicate the Background Layer and drag to the top of all other layers (again).
Image > Adjustments > Brightness / Contrast
Brightness: +100, Contrast: +26
Set to Soft Light 50%.
8. Layer > New Layer
Fill Layer (Edit > Fill) with #D1D1D1
Set to Color Burn 20%.
From here you can do pretty much whatever you like with it. All this tutorial was meant to do was remove the pinkish-purple haze that was over the cap. :]
