tutorial 2

Take your base and crop it to you liking (do not sharpen until the last step)

Paste it onto a new layer sized 98 x 98 (i do this cause i add a border when i finish)

Screen your base (depending on how dark your image is you may want to screen more or less) for this icon I screened the layer 4 times, i know it looks washed out but thats okay =)

now add a soft light layer filled with #f5f9a7 - set it to 62 percent but you can mess with this to your liking

now add a burn layer filled with #a7f9f8 - set to 74-100% (i used 74)

now add a new hue/sat layer - i set mine to 25 but again your image may need more or less

now duplicate your base and move it to the top and set it to soft light 100% and then desaturate it

***now from here you can mess with the burn and soft light layers and adjust them to the color you like or if you feel its still to dark you can add another screen layer***
Merge all
now go to adjust >> sharpen>> unsharp mask
I used these settings http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t260/kristin21108/tut8.jpg
and this is the final product - now feel free to add a border and text if you like :)

i would love to see what you came up with - i hope this was helpful i was so sick of seeing sel. color tutorials so i decided to make one without it =)
