Basic Help

Here are some basic help tips and stuff for all you people struggling!
Using Photoshop. I am using CS but you can use 7.0
Note: Slightly imageheavy

1. Layer problems? Here!
Make sure your layer palette is open, if not Windows >> Layers and it will appear.
Many tutorials set their layers to styles, and opacities. Example: Set this layer on Hardlight (style) @ 100% (Opactity)

The style is showing the brightness/coloring of that layer.
The opacity shows the transparancy of the layer.

Here's a picture of how to change both on your layers:
Where i put a red box around 'Hard Light', that's where you change the syle to which one the tutorial tells you. The other box shows the number of the opacity which is the transparancy, most tutorials say at 23% which means the number of opacity.

Copy and paste layers.

Choose this tool:
Then, make sure the layer you want to copy is chosen: After that, select your whole image:
Then go to Edit >> Copy, then you can paste the layer on a new image. But if you want to copy all the image without merging or flattening, do the selection thingy on any layer then go to Edit >> Copy Merged, by doing that, you copied all your image, not just one layer.

Draging Layers

Some tutorials tell you 'Drag this layer to the top' they mean the layer your on, make sure it's on top of all the other layers, to drag a layer, click on it and hold then move your mouse/drag it on top of all the layers! (or on top of any other layer) Then set it to a style or opacity the tutorial tells you.

Borders on images

Want to put a border on your image? First make sure your image is flattened..Layer >> Flatten Image or Merge Visible, if you have a transparent background, click Merge visible. Then duplicate your base layer. and go to Edit >> Stroke >> and set the width of your border and check either center or inside (since outside won't show). Pick the color you want and press ok! If you want to make your border different colors like a gradient and 3D, then Click Here.

Duplicating

Want to duplicate a layer or your image? Simple! Follow!
1. Right click on the layer you want to duplicate or the base (usually shown as 'background') on the Layer Palette.
2. Click on duplicate layer. Then Do whatever! Like changing styles/opacities or dragging!

Importing Brushes

Have you seen a set of brushes for photoshop you want? Here is how to install it!

Download the brush set, then make sure you know where it is located like My documents? If it is in a zip folder, copy the brush set and paste it in my documents. Then go to photoshop, and select the brush tool, then:
and the brushes will appear in your brush list. Done!

I really hope this tutorial helped you! If you want more explaining for other stuff, feel free to say so!
