Using PS CS2 (with selective color)

Step #1
Crop&resize your base.

Step #2
Duplicate your layer and set it to Soft Light 100%.

Step #3
Duplicate your base once again and bring it to the top. Move it where you need it. Set to Normal. Opacity 61%, Fill - 76%. Then erase this layer in places where it covers your base.

Step #4
Repeat Step #3

Step #5
New Selective Color Layer:
Reds: +100; 0; +100; +100
Yellows: 0; 0; 0; -100
Cyans: +100; +100; +100; +100
Blues: +100; 0; 0; +100
Whites: +28; 0; +100; 0
Neutrals: 0; 0; +28; 0
Blacks: 0; 0; 0; +100


Step #6
New Hue/Saturation Layer. Saturation: +45.

Step #7
Then I use this mask made by creamuts (set it to Screen).

Step #8
And, finally, decorate your icon with brushes and text that you like. I used little square brush by shoegal_icons and added text (junko's typewriter font).



But please, remember that everything depends on your base! So feel free to experiment with selective color etc %)
