Printing Projects from Photoshop

I feel kinda silly asking this but I've been using Photoshop 7.0 for years, but recently I have wanted to print projects I made (i.e. icons, wallpapers, banners, etc) in Photoshop. However, when I print them off everything looks so pixelized, especially the font. Is there some sorta special method that I do not know about to avoid this?? Or should I avoid using Photoshop directly to print?
