Seeking Help

Hello,  I have Photoshop CS, Image Ready, Animation Shop 3, and PSP 7.0... I could get GIMP if I need to.  I really want to learn how to make this type of animation (behind the cut).  Would anybody be able to tell me how to achieve that effect?  Whenever I make an animation it is frequently choppy and not as good quality.  I was also wondering if anybody could help me learn how to achieve this animated text affect where the text stands out slowly. If you could help me, it would be awesome.  It's been bugging me that I can't figure this out.
