This is how your project will look in the end:

Start off with a 100x100 base.
Open your image and drag it to the base. Move and resize till you're happy:

Go to Touchup -> Brightness and contrast… I've set overall contrast to 40. Then go to Touchup -> Touchup painting -> Brightness & contrast and added some more contrast to the eye and lips:

Then I made a cutout of the right side of the image (the part not visible on the icon): Crop or trim -> Create a cutout. Use cookie cutter shape and choose to leave cutout in the original project. I reduced contrast back to normal and moved the cutout on top of the icon and set to a gradual fade to the left (Photo effects -> Color or texture -> Transparent fade gradual).

Now it's time for text: the "S" is in Gradl, pt 20. Set to even fade (Photo effects -> Color or texture -> Transparent fade even). "hinra" is in Angsana New, pt 8. Set to even fade and then double the character spacing (Change formatting -> Font -> Character spacing tab).

Finally some decorations: First I added "*" in Bilbo-hand-bold, pt 72. Set to even fade and moved underneath the cutout. And then there's some random tiny text, Baskerville Old Face, pt 2 (You'll need to go to Change textbox -> Stretch text to fit textbox, to reduce the size sufficiently) set to even fade.

Ending with a border: Add a square (add image -> square). Set to 4pt, no fill. Move and resize till it fits nicely around the icon. Then add gradual fade down the middle (Photo effects -> Color or texture -> Transparent fade gradual).
