Dan Radcliffe Full Icon Tutorial
I created a tutorial for this icon:
I used this pick.

Then I cropped it to 100x100 ans sharpened it. Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen

I duplicated the bg pic and set the duplicate to OVERLAY.

Then I created a new layer. I used this gradient:
And it set the gradient layer to LINEAR LIGHT.

I created another layer and used this gradient:
And set that gradient layer to OVERLAY.

Now I create a fill layer by going to Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color and filled it with #1A1C54 and set it to EXCLUSION.

Another new fill layer filled with #57452B set to COLOR and opacity at 30%.

Another new fill layer with black also set to COLOR and opacity at 40%.

I duplicated the background again and put that layer above the black fill layer we just did. Go to Image > Adjustments > Variations. Press magenta twice, red three times, and light twice, then set the layer to SOFT LIGHT.

I duplicate the background again and place it above the red soft light layer. I set this new duplicated layer to OVERLAY. Now I take the eraser tool and, using different grunge and grid brushes, begin erasing the duplicated pic.

I duplicate the bg layer again and set the opacity layer to 20 % and I use the eraser tool as grunge brushes again to add a little more shade difference.

For the text I use Georgia bold 8pt. I right click on the text layer in the layers menu and select Blending options. I highlight outer glow, change the color to #AE6566, opacity 75%.
Then highlight drop shadow, check the box and leave the settings on default.

Well, that’s my tutorial. If you have any questions feel free to comment here.
