Concerns

I'm not sure if this is going to be accepted or not, but I have a few concerns and questions and this is the only place I can think to address them since this is where most of the tutorials are posted ...



Am I the only person a little uncomfortable with this latest round of icon drama?

Over the past few days I've seen several people cry foul about technique and style and basically claiming ownership of a certain "look".

Now I'm not saying it's cool to copy someone's icons detail for detail, but if someone likes a style that they see and they apply that style to their own creations, then so be it.

I have debated this with a couple of people and they seem to get the idea that I think it's is okay to copy someone's icons. Which is not what I'm saying at all. What I have a problem with is someone saying I used this cropping and coloring style first and therefore it's mine and if anyone else uses the same technique they're ripping me off.

Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I just think it's taking things a little too far to claim ownersip of style, technique, look or effect. I mean, if that's the case then the whole art and design world is in trouble ...
