Hi! This is my very first tut, and I'd dern proud of it, so I hope that other people will like it too :D
This is using PSP 10, but I think it should be easy to translate to other programs.
We'll be making this baby:
Okay, so here we go!
Step 1: Take this screenshot made by
glance18 and crop it 480x480. Shrink it to 21%. That'll make it 101x101, so just take it into paint and crop off 1 pixel from two touching sides. [If you make it 20% it'll be too small.]
You should get something like this:
Step 2: Take your base and set it as a new image. Copy it and set it as a new layer. Then, go to LAYERS > PROPERTIES and set to Screen at about 70%. It'll probably differ with diffrent darknesses of images, but something around that should be good. You'll lighten up the image and it should look like:
Step 3: Now merge those layers, set as a new image, and apply "Motion Blur Left Weak". Then, take your original base and set that as a new layer. Dont do any other effects yet! Just take your Eraser tool and erase the backround. NOT HARRY. Now, to the left, it was too hard to erase. So I only erased the larger area on the right. [I only did this because the backround looked a wee bit pixely and wasnt sure how that would effect the icon. If your backround seems fine you probably dont need to do this.] You'll get:
Step 4: I took this blue brush
made by I THINK
superbeamicons and rotated it 180o. DONT ROTATE IT IN PSP OVER YOUR ICON. IT WILL ROTATE ALL THE LAYERS! Then I added it to the actual icon and set it to Burn 50%. Resulting in
Sweet, non?
Step 5: I then took this frame base,
by
77words, inverted it, and set it as a new layer on Screen 75%. You get a lovely
Step 6: Merge all the layers. Set as a new image and take your Target Brush (looks like a bullseye) and use it to turn whatever of Harry isnt within the frame's corners to b/w. Sometimes your target may not turn the image b/w because you used a colored font. You can fix this by typing something, going to properties, and making the Stroke AND Fill black. Then you use the eyedropper tool on your text, can cut your text, and make the part of your image b/w. I got:
(ALMOST DONE!)
Step 7: I then took the tinytext brush
made by
artistjosie, and moved the tiny text near the bottom left corner. I inverted the image and placed it as a new layer to the result of Step 6 and set it to Screen 35%. You'll get
And finally,
Step 8: I made a black base and pasted it as a new image in PSP. I then added white text in Scriptina (pt.10) at the very very bottom left corner so it would be just under the tinytext. I then copied the layers (base and text) and pasted them as a new layer set to Screen 70% on the Harry image. And THAT, dear people is how we got
(Awwwwwwww!!! He's sooooooo cute :3)
Now I don't mind if you use this tut EXACTLY as I did it, seeing as I do that ;P, but it always is interesting to see how people can add their own twists to already good tuts.
I'd love to see what you came up with, too!
Credit for my tut isnt necessary, but it is appreciated.
Please comment if you used or just enjoyed my tut.
