Icon tutorial #2: Fight Club Icon.

Using PS 7.0

I started out with this image:
Step 1. Crop your base. But for this icon keep the full image somewhere handy. Sharpen it if you’d like to but it’s not necessary.

Step 2. Take the image again and crop another part, different from your base (see the left half of my icon)

So now I have as two separate images:
My base: the left half:

Step 3. Take the smaller half and place it in it's own layer on the icon (I chose the left side)
Don't forget to cut out the gray half!! Use your magic wand tool to click it then go to: Edit then cut.

Step 4: Merge the half and base together onto one layer (it’s ctr + E for me)

Step 4-2: Duplicate your base and set it to soft light 100%

Step 5: Make a new layer and use this brush: (made quickly by me)
Place it as you wish on the image, between the base and half

You should have something similar to this:

step 6: Make a new layer and fill it with #8AC3B8
Set it to Overlay at 30%

Step 7: Make another new layer and fill it with #771324
Set it to Lighten at 60%

You should have something similar to this:

Step 8: Make another new layer and put this gradient (by Ofthesky.net)
Make it Colorburn at 55%

You should have something similar to this:

Step 9: On top of everything use this simple pattern:
Set it to darken so the white goes away.

Step 10: Add your text!
I added three little boxes too, just because I’m pretty much addicted to doing so.
