cutting out an image- help?

Alright, so I couldn't find this in the memories so either give me a link or tell me how...



Here is my picture:



as you might guess, I want to cut out the lady from the rest of the picture and insert her into an entirely different image. I'm very bad at drawing with a mouse, and I tried lasso several times but to no good effects.

I was wondering if there are any other methods of going about this. When i tried magic wand, it just made a bunch of little bits. Will I just have to lasso it, and just keep cutting out other bits until it works, or what? I thought of just putting the background image over this one and erasing away around the woman, but it seems that would be a lot of hassle to edit later in the process.

I'm in Photoshop CS, if that makes any difference.

I'm trying to get an affect (or at least with the cut-out bit) similar to the header image here.
