(requested) coloring tutorial

jackaholic requested a tutorial for the coloring I used on my latest icons. So here it is, my first tutorial. =)

Going from this to this:

I use PS7, but I'm sure it's very easy to translate =)

This was my base:



1. Duplicate your base and set your copy to screen 100%
2. Then duplicate your base and set your copy to soft light 100%
3. Then duplicate your base and set your copy to soft light 100% and desasturate (image > adjustments > desasturate)
4. Do this again
5. Then past this* on top of everything and set to exclusion 100%

Your layers should look like this:



Then I sharpened the base and I was satisfied.



But of course you can play around with the layers or add some brushes or text too.

I've made all of the 137 icons over here using the same kind of coloring.
