Brush Tutorial [PSP7/PS7]

What is a brush?

A brush is a stamp for your graphics program. It can add a very stylish dynamic to your graphics. You go go from this [] to this []

How do I install it?
PSP7
What you'll need: WinZip and knowledge of it, PSP7 of course.

Step one: Press the download link for your brush of choice.
Step two: A popup will appear asking you to Open or Save. Select Open.
Step three: A WinZip popup will appear [I use the free version so I have to select 'Use Evalution Version' this may vary]
Step four: Hit the Extract button
Step five: Select where you want to extract the files, and then hit Extract again. [Generally PSP brushes are extracted to C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Brushes]
Step six: Exit WinZip

Now you've got your brushes extracted and ready to use.

Now your brushes are waiting for you to access them. :)

How do I use a brush?
PSP7

Step one: Open up PSP7 and create a new image. Any size, any height, any background color.
Step two: Click on this [] in the left side toolbar.
Step three: Click on that same image in your tool options box.
Step four: Click on the white square and then select 'Custom' [image]
Step five: Your downloaded brushes should appear, so scroll until you find one you like and then select it.
Step six: Choose a color that is not the same as your background and then hover over your image and click to apply the brush.

Add as many brushes in as many colors as you want. Select textures or patterns instead of a solid color for some really neat effects. :)

Note: This does not cover PSP8 & 9 as I have never used them. Sorry.

PS7

Step one: Open up PS7 and create a new image. Any size, any height, any background color.
Step two: Make your tool bar identical to this one [image] But use whatever colors you want to.
Step three: In the top left click on the arrow that looks like this [image]
Step four: Then click on the arrow that looks like this [image]
Step five: There will a huge list divided into five sections, the lower section contains a list of all the brushes that you have.
Step six: To load a specific brush set Click the name of the brush set and hit 'OK'
To load more brushes [or all] After loading a specific set, select 'Load Brushes' and load more of the brushes you have downloaded from the file that you downloaded them into.
Step seven: Select a brush to use and apply it to your image.
