screencapping using WMP

Heya, i was following the tutorial directions given here for copying frame by frame, but when i paste in PS the image gets all fucked up (can i swear in here?), not letting me manipulate it, pasting over previous layers and generally taunting me with its uncooperative attitude.

Im doing this using WMP, ripping from a dvd, can anyone who does this lend a hand? (or tell me how they do it)
