Ashley Tutorial
This tutorial was requested by piec3s0fme from my icon post here.

in PSP, most likely transferable to other programs too.
Firstly I created a new canvas at 100x100 and filled it with #000000.
Result:
I then took my picture and rotated it and cropped it to my liking. For this icon I made the picture of Ashley 100x61 pixels and then copy and pasted it above the black layer. DONT MERGE
Result
I then duplicated the ashley layer and set it to screen 100%, then I duplicated it again and set it to softlight 100%. These levels will change depending on your image
Result
I then created another layer and used my selection tool to create a rectangle 100x61, the size of Ashley in my icon. I then filled this selection with #89c7e9 and set it to Burn 100%. I then duplicated this layer so I had two blue rectangles set to Burn both at 100%, again this will differ between icons.
Result
I then repeated step for, but instead I filled it with a light pink colour #ff7baa and set it to Saturation (legacy) at 32% just to warm the icon up a bit (again this will differ)
Result
I wanted my icon a little darker again, so I duplicated one of the blue rectangles set to burn and dragged it to the top, but this time lowering the opacity to 42% I then copied all the ashley layers (all layers minus the black base) and pasted on top and for now turned its visibility off. Not merged!
Result
I then pasted this texture by
dearest
below the invisible layer at the top and set it to lighten at 82%
Result
I set the top layer to visible again and then set that to burn at 72%
Result
I then duplicated the previous layer (that was set to burn at 72%) but blurred it as I felt my icon was too sharpened, so you might not have to blur it at all, I set that to soft light at 100%
Result
I wanted to brighten it up slightly, so then I duplicated the burn layer, brought it to the top, yet set it to screen at 14%
Result
That was the end of my colouring for Ashley. I then created a new layer, took my selection tool and made a rectangle which I wanted filling in black.
Result
I then repeated that step adding rectangles in #be050b, #f8ea03, #60a507 before adding text to complete it.
Heres what my layers looked like if Ive confused you.

Let me know if this was helpful or confusing and I'll try to help :)
