iPod icons

Hey all. I have a question about making the iPod icons. I've been using this tutorial for it. My problem is, I can't figure out how to use the "bezier curve line" that she talks about. Does anyone know how to explain it? I've also tried using the pen tool, and I can't quite seem to get the hang of it. If the "bezier curve" and the pen tool are the same, I'm screwed. Unless, of course, some wonderful genius could help me... Anyone??
