Coloring Tutorial for GIMP, easily translateable.

1) I took my premade base (made by skellorg ) and duplicated it, set it to overlay at 100, and and desaturated it. (Layer->Colors->Desaturate)

2) I created a new transparent layer between the base and its duplicate and filled it with 060022 and set it to difference (exclusion in other programs.) It doesn't look very pretty right now, but it will soon, just wait. ;)

3) I took this gradient Image hosted by TinyPic.com (made by?) and set it to burn at 11.2, the difference so far is subtle.

4) I took this gradient Image hosted by TinyPic.com (made by?) and set it to burn at 10.1.

5) I took this gradient Image hosted by TinyPic.com (made by?) and set it to dodge at 19.1.

6) I took this gradient Image hosted by TinyPic.com (made by?) and set it to overlay at 61.8

7) The base was looking too dark so I took this light texture Image hosted by TinyPic.com (made by awmp) and set it to overlay at 100.

8) It still looked too dark so I took this texture Image hosted by TinyPic.com (made by?) and set it to overlay at 100. I really liked the effect it had on the coloring, but I didn't like the tiny text showing so I went to Filters->Blur->Guassian Blur and kept the default settings and here we have it.

I hope this colorint tut is helpful since so many people have asked me how I get certain coloring effects on my icons. I'd love to see what you guys do with this. :)
