My first tutorial. Don't be too hard on me now. ;)
We're going to go from
to 
using Photoshop 7.
1. Duplicate your base. Set the second layer to Screen at 20% Opacity.
2. Create a new layer. Set this gradient made by yours truly, to Color Burn at 100% Opacity.
3. Merge all layers. Take your new base and duplicate it once. Desaturate the new layer. Then, making sure that layer is selected, go to Filter>>Blur>>Motion Blur. Have the settings as follows.
Angle: 40
Distance: 23
Now set this layer to Soft Light at 100% Opacity.
4. Take this gradient, made by me as well, and set it on top at Soft Light at 100% Opacity.
5. Add this on top. Set it to Soft Light at 43% Opacity. This too was made by moi.
6. Add this on top. Set it to Color Burn at 55% Opacity. And of course this one I made as well.
7. Create two new layers. Fill the very top layer with #A39B68, setting it to Color at 21%. Fill the bottom most layer with #6880A3. Set it to Linear Light at 25% Opacity.
8. I then added text and used a brush set by
teh_indy, and gave the icon a 1 pixel border.
9. As a finishing touch I added this texture to the icon and inverted the color, setting it on Soft Light at 30%. I'm not sure who actually made the texture, but if any of you do, drop me a comment so I can add proper credit.
You should end up with something like this. :)
