Making pictures to be imported into Word Documents

Hey guys.

I have a weird question, but I figured you might know the answer.

I am a Public Relations Major, and in class we have to design a header with our company logo on it to go on our press releases and such.
No problem, except I have to design a few things in Photoshop CS first to put into our header.

We are a music compay, and I am basiclaly making the first letters in our company name look like musical notes. So I have to do this in photoshop first then import/place them in a word document to work with. Doing everything I am cool with. My question is, what settings do I need to have so that when I import the image it doesn't distort itseld or look like crap?
Some of you might know how Word messes with your images when you place them.

I figured maybe there was a resolution setting or something that I should do before making the design so that when I import it it looks ok. It would also have to be ok so I can print it out....
I hope I didn't totaly confuse anyone!

So how do you make images/fonts import to they don't distort in Microsoft word?
Is there a setting I should keep in mind when I make a new image in Photoshop?
