second icon tutorial!!! :D

Okey Dokey, so i'm back yet again, with a second round of icon tutorialness. this is a rather simple icon tutorial, but it's cool :D
we shall be making a delightful Conor Oberst icon, because a)he owns you and b)he owns you ;D
so from this Image hosted by Photobucket.com to Image hosted by Photobucket.com

ALRIGHT.. so we start off with this picture:
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
*take a minute to observe Conor's utter beauty*

then we crop, resize etc.etc. you know the drilllll.... until we land up with
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

NOW the fun begins...

STEP ONE: Sharpen your base once if it needs it. Then duplicate the base and set it to SOFT LIGHT Opacity 100%. Then use the DODGE TOOL to brighten conor up just a tad. We now have this:

STEP TWO: Add this texture - Image hosted by Photobucket.com (made by i_don't_know_who.. god lord i'm terrible at remembering where i get these things)
Then set the texture to hard light.

STEP THREE: As you can seee the texture is EVIL and has decided to cover conor's BEAUTIFUL face... we cannot have this... SO we are going to get our own back on the texture with the ERASER (muahaha) and so we ERASE all the bits covering conor's face (and his clothes etc)! yay his beauty is restored :D

STEP FOUR: Now we want to use this cute little HEART BRUSH Image hosted by Photobucket.com (made by i_don't_know_who)
Make a new layer. Set the brush to 19px and place it on Conor's sleeve. I applied it in #7e1518. NOW the heart looked kinda faded and i wanted it to stand out more, so i duplicated that layer with the brush on it.

BY THE WAY - Feel free to merge the layers or flatten the image at any time.

STEP FIVE: Now we add text! Add "HEART" in any cool text, i used "Broken74" which i got off dafont.com. THEN in Times New Roman write in "on" and then on a new line "my sleeve" The text should be in the same colour as the brush.

NOW that is looking nearly finished, BUT i wanted the text to stand out just a littttllleeee bit mooorrreee so i added an OUTER GLOW to the text.
FLATTEN your IMAGE and you are DONE!

YOU HAVE NOW GOT A LOVELY CONOR OBERST ICON :D or a lovely whatever-picture-you-used icon :D

thank you for taking the time to follow my tutorial, i would love to see any results you get!
P.S - i was in such a conor mood during this tutorial lol.
