Tutorial #5: D.N. Angel, basic

Finally another tutorial! This one is pretty simple. Mostly just an icon effect, nothing in particular. Using Photoshop 7.0. Basic knowledge is required.

So we start with this base, a very cute D.N. Angel image. The original image is from Anime Visions.



Then make a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer (don't just desaturate it, you must make the layer!) and bring the saturation to -100 so it's completely black and white.



Now, using the Lasso tool, go around his eyes - just the pupils. Now go up to Layer>>New>>Layer Via Copy. Drag your new layer above the Hue/Saturation layer. Then using the Burn tool, go around his eyes, making them darker. Then use the Dodge tool and make the whites of his eyes brighter. The whole effect makes his eyes softer.



Make a new layer. Now take this brush (I believe it's made by fluffy_monster, however I could be wrong. If I am, please correct and I'll fix it!) and paste it on in the lower right corner. I duplicated the layer three times to make it darker.



Now copy your original image (it should have color if you did it right!) and paste it above the Hue/Saturation Layer. Resize it down so it fits in your little box. (it should be below the layers with the brush) Then take the Eraser tool and erase any of the image that are sticking out.



Then I used a random tiny text brush by disasteriffic and made sure the layer it was on was below the box and image.



One last brush and were finished. New layer. This brush by ch_photoshopped which is cool fading brushes. I also duplicated this twice.
