Photoshop 7: HELP

Okay I need little help with PS7. I can't get the text to get bigger then size 1. I've tried clicking on a bigger number and typing in a bigger number anf then hightlighting the text and to put a bigger text but it stay at size 1. So my question is how do I get it to change sizes????
