Icon Tutorial #1
This is my first, It's pretty easy. Made in PSP9, but I'm pretty sure it could probably be translated into the other versions, it's nothing too hard.
We're going from This to

Okay, I started with a picture of Shuichi and Yuki that I found, cropped it down, Duplicated twice and set the first to Screen and the second to Overlay, and sharpened it once to get:
. You can do whatever you like to yours, I just (for some reason) like light-colored head shots of the two.
1: I added this color: #090d3b, set to Exclusion at 100%

2: Added this Light Texture by

I set it on Overlay at 72% to get the look I wanted.
Icon as of now:
In my opinion, It still looks BLAH, so I added this brush from
unmasked_icons

Set on this color: #1e1c44 and on Burn at 80%
Icon as of now:
You could leave it right there or add some text, but I made a new Raster Layer and added a brush I got from somewhere (I really have forgotten, but I know I credited them in my UserInfo... if someone knows, please tell me!):

Set on this color: #8539c1 and this setting: Darken at 100%
And that's it! You get a nice pretty icon. ^_^ I hope you enjoyed it!
