Mod Post: New Feature!

In the very near future, we'll be adding a "Book Review" category to the memories.

This was inspired by a trip to my local library, where my boyfriend and I, between us, just checked out four books on Photoshop, of varying degrees of usefulness. He said, "you should post on this one later," and he was right. Here at icon_tutorial, we encourage the use of other resources, and books can be incredibly useful. Thus, posts reviewing and either recommending or strongly discouraging a specific, relevant book are now allowed, provided they are clear, and posted behind a cut, and as always, the best will be archived.

If you review a book, please make sure to include the following points:
  • What program(s) does it help with?

  • What skill level(s) is it intended for?

  • What are some of the features it teaches?

  • What kind of style does it use?

  • Did you find the book clear and effective? Alternatively, did you find it muddied and useless?

  • To what kind of user would you recommend this book? To what kind of user would you not recommend this book?
Posts requesting a book will probably be deleted, as are all "where can I find" posts, because there will be a growing category in the memories that you can use yourself.

And I would like to remind you all that your local library is a powerful resource. Especially when you consider inter-library loan. Even if you have really mean librarians (my library did, when I was little), it's still one of the best ways to find information. :)
