My first Tutorial...

I use Photoshop CS but I'm sure it's translatable easy enough.

Go from this and this to Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It is pretty image heavy, be warned if you have a slow connection speed.

I hope it is easy to follow. Feel free to leave feedback so that I can make any future tutorials better.

1. I took my first image:

I cropped it to where I wanted it as a square using the cropping tool but it was too dark for my taste. So, I duplicated it and changed that layer to Screen 100%.

I duplicated the Screened layer four times then changed the top most layer to Soft Light leaving it at 100% Opacity.

I flattened the image at this point. LAYER>>FLATTEN IMAGE From there sharpened the image twice. FILTER>>SHARPEN>>SHARPEN Then with my blur tool, using a soft round brush at 40% strength set to normal, I smoothed out the skin avoiding the eyes and hair, etc.

And lastly, I sized the image to 100 X 100

2. Next I took my second image:

and pasted the first image on top, setting it to Screen 100%.

There was too much light covering Dean's face so I gently erased that area from layer two. I used my eraser at Size 13 with soft edges, Opacity 100%, Flow 11%, Hardness 1%.

This is what I get:

3. Now create a new layer on top and fill it with #221884 and set it to Exclusion 70%. Merger down (Ctrl + E) so only the top layer is effected.

4. I didn't like the line through Dean's face on the right so I took my blur tool at 40% Stregth, Normal, Soft Round set to 13 size and working on the first layer I blurred the line out.

5. Next I created a new layer and I used this gradient . I don't remember who it's by b/c of the way I organize. If you know, please tell me so I can credit them. My information page on my icon journal tonic2w_iconage lists who I credit.

I set the gradient to Soft Light at 63%.

6. Flatten Image.

7. Next create a new layer. I filled the new layer w/ this texture. Let me know who made it if you know so I can credit them. Set it to Screen 100%.

I thought it washed out Dean to much so I duplicated the background, moved it to the top and set it to Soft Light 50%.

8. Create a new layer and fill it with this texture. . Again... if you know who made it let me know. Set it to Sreen 100%.

I didn't like the orange ball over Dean's eye so using my eraser at Size 13, Opacity 50%, Flow 11%, Hardness 1% I erased over the area I wanted to change and I got this:

9. One last texture. Create a new layer and apply this texture at Soft Light 50% Opacity.

10. It's time to add brushes and text. I used this brush. Let me know if you know who it's by. And added Dean's name.

For both I used the same color. I used the eye dropper tool to pick a dark color from the icon. #75356A and set them to Linear Burn %70 Opacity.

Here is what I set my text to:
