First Tutorial
I use Photoshop 7, but it probably can be translated.
We'll be going from
this:
to this:
First, crop part of your image so you end up with an image that is longer than it is wide, like so:

Open up a new image that is 100x100 pixels, white background. Paste your cropped image. Move it over to the left of the canvas.

Now paste your image onto the canvas again, and move it to the right so that only part of it is visible.

Merge visible layers.
Sharpen once.

Duplicate your image, and desaturate.

Now, take this texture by
dearest :

and paste it onto a new layer. Mode=screen. Opacity=100%

Now, take this texture by ?? (Tell me and I'll change the post to credit them)

And paste it into a new layer. Mode=multiply Opacity=100%
Rotate your canvas 90 degrees clockwise. In the space between your two images, insert some text.
The font I used was dear joe at sizes 10 and 18, kerning 500

Move your text layers so they are below your first texture layer, the screen one.

Rotate your canvas 90 degrees counter clockwise.

Underneath your two texture layers, create a new blank layer. Select all (Ctrl+A), and stroke the layer (Edit, Stroke). One pixel, black.

There you go!

You can take any of the above icons if you like. Just credit this journal. Also, I'd love to see what you guys create using this tutorial and hear your comments. :)
