Weird problem using PS CS2

So Ive been using the program for 2 weeks and I've picked up pretty much everything really easily BUT when Im using PS half way thru the little crop brush turns into THIS . It also does it to every other brush (blur, sharpen, etc) and Im not sure whats going on with it. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
