PSP 9 Tutorial
My second tutorial!
From this to this:
Step One:
Get the main image, crop, and resize. The smaller squares are 36x36 and the larger one is 100x50. Arrange them all on a white 100x100 base. Merge all layers.
You get:

Step Two:
Sharpen the image once.
You get:

Step Three:
Then go to Adjust > Automatic Saturation Enhancement and set to: More Corlorful, Strong, and No Skintones Present.
You get:

Step Four:
Now add another layer, flood fill it with #000264 and set to Exclusion with the opacity set at %50.
You get:

Step Five:
Using the Selection Tool, select a small area in her face;

Copy merged, then select none.
Step Six:
Paste the little bit you copied as a new layer and move it all the way over to the left side.
You get:

Step Seven:
Create a new raster layer and set it to Luminance (Legacy). Then rotate your image 90 degrees.
You get:

Step Eight:
Now add your text. I used the font Will & Grace, color black, all caps, size 5, and spaced in between each letter, twice in between the first and last name. I find this easier than messing around with my kerning.
You get:

Step Nine:
Rotate your image back and merge all the layers.
You get:

Step Ten:
Now, get your sharpen tool and set it to: size 3, hardness %50, opacity %40 and just go over the larger picture of Alyson's eyes.
You get:

All done! Ten easy steps to get you this icon. Here are some other icons made the same way.

Some icons, like the Sarah Jessica Parker one, look just as good without the Exclusion layer. Mess around, and let me see what you come up with! ^_^ All of the above icons are snaggable, credit to
