Coloring Technique for PSP9 - Six Steps

PSP9, PSP8, not sure about the others but it's really simple. Tutorial has a small number of graphics in it, and I'm making it as simple as I can, feel free to ask any questions and I'll try to help you out, and if you make something with it, I'd like to see! :)

From this to Image hosted by Photobucket.com.

Step 1: Crop your image.

I'm using this screencap. Make sure it's a square (200x200, 450x450, etc).

Step 2: Resize your image to 100x100 pixels.

(In PSP9) Go to Image >> Resize.
You will then have this: Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Step 3: Sharpen it. Use the Unsharp Mask.

Go to Adjust >> Sharpness >> Unsharp Mask. For this, I used the following settings:
Radius: 1.00
Strength: 47
Clipping: 0

You will then have this: Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Step 4: Desaturate.

Make a copy of your base layer, then paste it on top.
Then, with the top layer selected, go to Adjust >> Hue and Saturation >> Hue/Saturation/Lightness.
Use the following settings:
Hue: 7
Saturation: - 38
Lightness: 0

Then set that layer (the desaturated one) as Screen @ 82% Opacity.

You will then have this: Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Step 5: Green Burn.

Paste this gradient: Image hosted by Photobucket.com as a new layer on top.
Set it as Burn @ 46% Opacity.

You will then have this: Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Step 6: Brown Hard Light.

Paste this gradient Image hosted by Photobucket.com as a new layer on top.
Set it as Hard Light @ 86% Opacity.

And then you will have this, your finished icon! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Enjoy, and I hope that this made sense, again, feel free to ask me any questions!
