Heffalump Colouring Tutorial

Hey all, a simple tutorial for Photoshop. I use Adobe Photoshop Elements, so it should easily translate to other programs.

How to turn this to this:


First, you need to find an image. I'm using this one by missedith17 of Lumpy from Pooh's Heffalump Movie.

Now, get it to icon-worthy proportions, 100x100. Sharpen it to your liking, but don't over do it. Put 9px lines at the top and bottom.

Duplicate your base and set it to Soft Light 100%

Do this again (Soft Light 100%). Now, this looks pretty good, but Lumpy looks a little washed out, we'll need to fix that.

Duplicate your base again, and bring it to the top. Set it to Multiply at 40%

Copy and paste this gradient on the top (by me, icon_make_icons). Set it to Hue at 100%.

This is what we have so far. It looks really nice, eh? Now we just need to put on a few finishing touches.

Put a 2px border on the sides in black (#000000)

Then I used the edge of this brush by 77words on the black strips in #E8ECBC.
