PS Blue Exclusion/Sharpen Effect

I believe this is my fourth or fifth tutorial. Enjoy.

Today, we're going to go from this to in six steps.

Alrighty. Go ahead and crop your base, like so. I personally like it when my subject is a little off-center, but do whatever suits you.

Sharpen once, and smooth out any skin graniness with the Blur tool. Tweak the Brightness/Contrast settings (Image ---> Adjustments ---> Brightness/Contrast) to Brightness +20 and Contrast +15.

Duplicate the layer and set the duplicated layer to Soft Light 35-50%. Flatten your image.

Sharpen your image once. Repeat using the Blur tool to smooth out grainy skin and background every time you Sharpen.

Find a small crown-shaped (or just decorative) brush like the one below (made by ? ... it's from a wingding brush set I found at 100x100_brushes; if you know who made it, please let me know so I can credit). Create a new layer, apply the brush to an appropriate spot, and fade the opacity to about 88%. I also added text. The larger text is Georgia (a serif font) at 4pt and 600 spacing/kerning; all caps. The smaller text is the same, but 2pt font instead. The larger says "Weasley is our King" and the smaller says "That's why you'll always hear us sing."

Last step: Create a new layer and fill it with color #16227D (shown below). Set to Exclusion 35%. I didn't think Ron/Rupert looked sharp enough, so I went to my base layer and Sharpened again (repeat Blur tool for skin).

And there you have it :)
