We're going to go from
to
1. First you're going to want to copy and paste out BOTH of the designs on her outfit. I just put them both in seperate new "windows" in Photoshop.

2. Now go to the original image and size it down, so the width is 100 pixels and it doesn't matter what the length is right now, so long as it's over 90 pixels.

3. I just copied the whole image and put it into yet ANOTHER new window that is 100 pixels by 100 pixels.

4. Now I have a visual image of my head at this point of what I want the icon to look like.

gray being where the images goes
blue is where one of the patterns goes, and red for the other pattern.
green is where the tiny text will go
5. Now it's just resizing the patterns and image (be sure to sharpen everything one). Don't put the tiny text on yet. Once you crop and place the patterns and image together, flatten the image.

6. Add a dark blue layer, and set it to exclusion.

7. Take the bottom layer to the top, desatuarate it and set it to soft light.

8. Now I just took some tiny text made by
ohpaintbrush, and added it to the icon, put a 1px border on it and viola, you're done!

Ps. Yeah, the original is a bit different, since I made the icon before I made this tutorial. Play around with it and have fun! Feedback, comments, and what you've made out of this tutorial is great! I'd love to read, hear, and see it all.
