Make This: using photoshop 7

So I've seen some people wanting this effect so here it is this is good for beginners

Okay so I started off with this Image of Ville Valo

So I duplicated the layer
layer>> Duplicate Layer
and I set that Layer to Soft Light
Layer>> Layer Style>>Blending Options>> Soft Light set at 100% or you can play around with it
Result is this:

After this I merged all my layers
layer>>Flatten Image
then Duplicate again
Layer>>Duplicate Layer
so to this layer you are going to desaturate it
Image>> Adjustments>>Desaturate
and You should come up with this:

and then you take your #5 brush and set it to the color you want. I set it to #05833A and paint the object you want to come out colored like so

after doing this I set the layer to Overlay
Layer>>Layer Style>>Blending Options>>Overlay and you can set it at 100% or play around with it again
and Voila you get this :


after this you can add graphics and crop it to 100x100
and come up with something like this
