vibrant colours

Hi everyone. I was looking for some help in getting these effects:



^I like the clean look of such vibrant colours. The technique may be very simple but whenever I try I end up with something I don't want.

Also, I was wondering how to achieve this look:







I use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 by the way, and the images above were done by __iiicons.
