i was asked to make a tutorial for this icon

so here it goes............... but before i start. it's worth checking out mata0906880 tutorial here

  i cropped this picture - to this-    set to lighten

(a side note. when choicing a picture to tutorial try checking one that has the similar background to this one or you could use  by nine_am

and put it on a layer over your picture and rub out the parts covering over your person and merge it down

the following five textures go under the cropped picture!

now take take this texture  by dearest  

 take this texture, flip it horizontal and set it to screen and put it under the picture

 (by filipinoz_rule ) take this texture and set it hue

 (by dearest ) again take this one and set to colour burn (or color burn =P i'm british!) rub out the bits that are over your person

 (by dearest ) set to colour burn again

don't worry! i know it looks wierd! it should be like this -

now dupilcate your cropped picture and set it to normal and rub out the background so you only have the person -

now fill layer - solid colour, with "080143" -  set to exclusion

now another fill layer - solid colour, with "AF9665" - set to multiply

now dupilcate the layer of your person and bring to the front and remove the colour and set it to soft light

you should have something like this-

so nearly there, just to finish it off

with the colour "AF9665" -  i made this  with brushes i made this and set to colour dodge opacity 50%

if you want you can take the above  and use the magic wand tool and click on the white and get the rubber and rub out all the white then with the magic wand deselect it.

and then set it to colour dodge- 50% opacity

with a white brush i did random brush makes, with the opacity 50% set at normal

and again with the random brush i used an normal bush and made a cross and set it to colour burn

now you should have -
