okie dokie. first, crop this image of the beautiful Simone Simons: down to 100x100, and use your blur tool [] blur her skin, but dont dont dont blur defining lines in her nose, mouth, eyes, etc.
we now have this:
now that we have that, we're going to duplicate the base image, and desaturate it [image>>adjustments>>desaturate] and set the blend mode to soft light. []
now create a new layer [layers>>new>>layer] and using your paint brush tool [set to size 3], select a dark red color, and paint over her lips. set that to soft light. flatten the image.
get your sharpen tool[] [set to lumonosity - ] sharpen her lips. we now have:
now using your burn tool, set to midtones, burn a little bit over her eyes, mouth, hair, whatever seems necessary.
now using your sponge tool [] set it to desaturate and only go over everything slightly so you can get lighter softer skin.
using your burn tool again burn anything necessary for your picture.
from this point on, you can do whatever you want with the icon. i decided to make the colors a little more washed out-ish and used the sponge tool again and went over the icon [] , added some tiny text, and a fancy little brush thing.
to get the glow in the corner i used a white round airbrush like brush set at 200 and just barely brushed the edges.
this is what i came up with:
and i would love to see what you come up with, as well :)
