My first tutorial
Hello, this is my first tutorial. So please be nice.
We are going to go from this >

Ok, I'm going to cover everything for beginners. So first we are going to resize this picture.
to 100 x 100 like this> by: Crop the photo at 350 height and 350 width. Then go to Image>Image size... change both the pixels selections to 100. Document size: Width, 1.39...Height, 1.39...and resolution, 182.88 pixels/inch. Got that? Great let's keep going.
Next we are going to duplicate the layer TWICE! Layer>Duplicate Layer
Our first layer is going to be set to screen at 100%. This can be done on the layer palette to the right.
Our second layer is going to be set to overlay at 100%. So it looks like this>
Flatten layers. Layer>Flatten Image
Now we are going to add some patterns. Create new layer. Then go Edit>Fill
First Pattern is this>

Second Pattern is this>
Set it to Color Burn at 59%. 
Then we are going to at some text. I put "Cousins" but you can put what ever you like I used the text "Civilian" :) This is what it looks like now>
We are going to change the text on the layer palette to Overlay 88%. It now looks like this> 
Notice you can barely see it. That's ok. Highlight the text and go Layer>Layer style>Stroak. When the screen pops up change the pixel size to 2. And where the red filled in box is click that and change the number down at the bottom to 9D0E0E.
And this is what you should get.
I'd love to see what you make, comment are welcome as well. I hope it's understandable. I made my original icon and when I went to do the tutorial, it came out different. *Shrug* I think it still looks cool.
