My First Tut - Keira

Interested in how I got from this: Image hosted by Photobucket.com... to this? - Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I chose this icon I made because it was simple for me to do, nothing too complicated, fiddly or fancy but one which I thought was pretty and would share with you.

Alright, now for this I used Photoshop CS but I'm guessing you can copy it on Paint Shop and other versions of Photoshop. It's fairly simple, it should be suitable for beginners.

Step one:

I took this picture -

I shrank the image to 50% by doing Image>>resize image>>50%

After that I cropped it to this for the base:

Step Two:

Duplicate the base twice. (You can do this by clicking Layer>> Duplicate Layer) Desaturate both - Image>> adjustments>> Desaturate and set both layers to soft light, 100%

You should have something like this:

Step Three:

Take this texture
Image hosted by Photobucket.com by bombayicons i'm pretty sure...

Paste it as a new layer above all the rest. Set to screen. It looks like this:

which isn't any good at all because you can't see her properly!

So I went to Filter>> Blur >> Motion Blur and set the angle to -49, Distance 44 pixels. You should be able to see on the preview/navigator window how it looks before you press etner, and it should be along the lines of this:

You can change it however you want to suit your tastes, I liked it like that.

Step Four:

Take this texture:

(i forgot who it's by sorry!... its on the tip of my tongue!!... check my User Info at velveticons for my resources, I should have added them there) and paste it as another new layer over the rest.
Set it to screen, at 60%
You should now have this:

Now for the text!!!

I put a K in Beautiful Caps ES at size 15, colour #64429B (a colour among the image) and moved it up by her face but you can put it anywhere you like. I thought it was slightly bold so I lowered the opacity to 80%
I then added tiny text which for me was basically Century Gothic size 2, and wrote random words. I think I typed "somewhere i stood and stared, explode" because I was listening to a song at the time and those were the lyrics... but you can write anything
I left the opacity at 100%

Now you should have this:

voila!!!

I hope I didn't confuse you all too much :S if I did, ask any questions below.
