Full tutorial in PS7 - Animatrix
My first tutorial, nothing too earth shattering. Going from this to 
Crop the image down to what you want to see. I totally cheat and use the rectangular marquee (m) tool, set to fixed size 100x100.
Using a pattern fill (or this image) fill a layer of vertical scanlines over our first layer, and then set the layer to Hue, 50%.
Duplicate our first image layer, then move it above the scanlines layer and set it to Soft Light.
Paste over this gradient (by
pocket_icons), and set that to Soft Light too.
Now add finishing touches. To this, I've added a tiny-text brush by
terra_katta, black, in the bottom right hand corner, and on a new layer I've added a japanese script brush (by Vered) in #44280D, and set the layer to Colour Burn.
Et Voila. Nice simple icon. I like simple. Take if you wish, but comment and give credit if you do.
