Arwen Tutorial
1. This is our base image - an image provided in
arwen_stillness 's week 16 challenge.
arwen_stillness 's week 16 challenge. Nice, isn't it? Now crop it, sharpen it twice (don't worry if it's even more pixelated now) and resize it to 100x100. Hit ctrl+shift+u to desaturate it and use your blur tool with a strength of 25 to smooth Arwen's skin. Be careful and don't smooth her eyes, her mouth or any other facial expressions!
This is what we get:
2. Duplicate the base layer twice and set them both to soft light.
3. Create a new layer right over your base layer (very important! Otherwhise your icon would look too blue-ish!) and set it to exclusion. Fill it with dark blue (# 000040).
4. create a new layer above them all and set it to overlay. Choose #790000 and a random brush and carefully paint over the parts of Arwen's cape-thingy.
5. Not that bad so far, right? We're getting close! Now paste this texture
of
_joni 's brush set #15 (imagepack) and set it to hard light. Erase all the parts covering her face.
Almost done, yay!
6. Now everything we have to do is creating a new layer on top of it all and add any tiny text brush you like in white (#FFFFFF) and add your text in Arial, 10 pt.
